Nels Ackerson for Congress

It's rare I tell someone what I think they should do. I am a strong propoenent of free choice - in all things - and while I enjoy engaging in conversation with repsect to religion and politics, and have ridiculously strong views of each, it's very uncommon for me to tell someone what they should believe or for whom they should vote.

So, that said, I implore those of you who live in Indiana's 4th Congressional district to vote for Nels Ackerson. There are many ways to describe Nels, his political views, and his agenda - all of which I believe in strongly. Let me say that Nels is the gentleman politician Thomas Jefferson had in mind when he discussed the model state representative. Nels deserves our vote and Indiana's 4th deserves someone who will voice the constituent's concerns as Nels will.

If you've not made up your mind, please vote for Nels. A vote for Nels is a vote for a better Indiana.

And, if you're curious, my ticket looked like this today: Obama-Biden (D); Daniels (IN Gov, R); Nels Ackerson (IN 4th- D).

Then you got fooled. Nels is a millionaire trial lawyer who moved here temporarily to buy a seat in Congress. He's run the most negative campaign in Indiana. Some gentleman.

Have you discussed issues with Nels in person? Have you asked him about the fact he's lived in MD up until his decision to run? I'd like to know!

Yes, I have. He's a veneer of non-specific platitudes concealing a despicable excuse for a human being.

Wow - that's a lot of vitriol directed at a guy who merely wants to serve his state and fellow Hoosiers. The only thing I take strong exception to is that you've called him a despicable excuse for a human being; that's just uncalled for, don't you think?

Not really. Accoding to the Star, he ran the most negative campaign in Indiana. I like a candidate who is for something, not just a negative hate spewer. To accuse Steve Buyer, a decorated veteran, of being complacent about military rapes is worse than a lie.

Besides, Nels is a registered voter in Maryland, not Indiana. If he wanted to serve his state, he'd run in Maryland, not in a district in which he's never lived until he announced a bid for Congress. And even then, he just rented.

Of course he went negative. Every politician in the world facing less than desirable poll numbers does it. Let's face it - this same tactic was shamelessly used by the McCain campaign. With respect to Nels' position on Rep. Buyer's conflict of interest with respect to his leadership on the House taskforce back in the '90s he raises a valid point - Rep. Buyer's history as a veteran, and then status as a Reserve Major made his participation questionable at best. Conflict of interest is neither red nor blue.

And, residency is not an issue given Nels' background in the State. Thanks for your comments!
